A Day of Service with Hoosier Hills Food Bank

Last week, the team at Slotegraaf Niehoff spent some time volunteering at the Hoosier Hills Food Bank (HHFB) in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The HHFB is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending hunger for individuals and families in our region. Each year, they distribute over five million pounds of food to more than 100 partner organizations that support people in need.

As part of our commitment to giving back, we helped assemble food boxes for HHFB's Families First Mobile Pantry, which provides free, nutritious food to individuals and families with limited access to resources. The mobile pantry, which began in 2008, now serves approximately 1,000 households per month across Lawrence, Martin, and Orange counties, operating four locations in:

  • Bedford

  • Mitchell

  • Orleans

  • Shoals.

Volunteering on Martin Luther King Jr. Day gave our team a chance to take part in a day focused on service while supporting an organization doing important work to address food insecurity in our region. We appreciated being able to contribute in a hands-on way and learn more about how HHFB’s mobile pantry helps meet the needs of surrounding communities.
